Our People

1.Personal Role in creating and maintaining trust

RMA was founded in 1894 and is the birthplace of workmen’s compensation as we know it in South Africa. Being a part of that rich heritage is a privilege, as well as providing access to over of century of data – undeniably, every actuary’s dream.

2. Describe your typical day as a Senior Actuarial Analyst. What makes you get up in the morning and come to RMA?

Our business is unique in that we are governed by both the COID Act as well as the now Insurance Bill (including Short term insurance act, Long term insurance act). This creates a thriving environment for analytical minds looking for the next problem to solve. This is the part of my job I enjoy the most, given my consulting background.

3. Why would you recommend RMA as an Employer of choice? /Why did you choose RMA ?

RMA offers exceptional exposure to talent and skill at Executive and Board levels - where at other companies, interactions with executives may be limited, at RMA the CEO knows every staff member by first name. The environment is enjoyable and flexible with limited red tape, enabling staff to influence direction and change within the organisation.

4. Tell us about your personal career growth experience at RMA.

Our focus is on high performance, high quality delivery first time around while still upholding RMA values of honesty, integrity and accountability. RMA is a progressive organisation and shows that it is passionate about its people. Employee professional development programs offers actuarial students full study support including full bursaries, paid study leave and mentorship.
