Augmentation Policy

The Augmentation Policy is a top-up cover of the COID benefit, suitable for employees that earn above the COID maximum payment limit. This policy covers earnings of up to R7.5 million a year.

Cover is calculated on the employee’s actual package – allowing them to maintain their usual lifestyle by receiving the right compensation at the right level of benefits for their income. This removes the earning’s ceiling placed by COID legislation.

Benefits of the Augmentation Policy include temporary and permanent disability and death cover.

Commuting Journeys Policy (CJP)

The Commuting Journey Policy (CJP) covers the death or injury of an employee while travelling to and from work on a reasonably direct route. You can help give your employees loved one’s peace of mind with cover for injuries.

Group Personal Accident

GPA offers cover in the event of a non-work-related accident such as a motor vehicle accident, to help reduce the financial burdens. Accidents covered exclude assault and hazardous pursuits.

International Cover

Losing a loved one is never easy. RMA has designed a funeral cover to ensure your employees and their family will have a dignified funeral and that the costs involved with planning a funeral are met. The loss of a family member is traumatic.

However, we are here to ensure their funeral arrangements go smoothly, RMA’s Funeral Cover that gives peace of mind in any event of death.

  • OPTION 1: Member and Spouse for R30 000 cover
  • OPTION 2: Member + Spouse + up to 6 Children for R30 000 cover

COID Cover

Being compensated for a work-related injury or illness contracted at work will go a long way in ensuring your employee and their family are taken care of financially.

COIDA, 130 of 1993, as amended regulates how and when employees who have been injured at work or who have contracted an illness or disease in the workplace are compensated and clearly sets out the legal requirements for tariffs, compensation and the limitations for workers' claims. RMA has a mandate to administer COID for Class IV (Mining) and Class XIII (Iron, Steel and Metals) only.

COIDA provides for medical examination and treatment, disability certification and compensation. Similarly, when an employee died because of injuries sustained in the workplace or an occupational disease, the dependents of the deceased employee may qualify for benefits.

Which employees are covered by COID?

  • Employees who were injured in an accident at work.
  • Employees who contracted an occupational disease or illness at work.
  • Employees who died from a workplace accident or occupational disease.

How is compensation calculated?

Compensation is calculated as a percentage of the employee’s earnings at the time the injury occurred or the disease was diagnosed.
